Mario Bros. Is Close to Getting a Movie, Illumination and Nintendo to Close Deal

As long as we don’t have a minions crossover, I’ll be fine.

A big report from the Wall Street Journal is out, and they have details that Nintendo is close to closing a deal with Illumination Entertainment to make a Mario Bros. Movie! Nintendo closed a deal with Universal Studios earlier this year for a theme park, so it makes sense that they’d go this direction.

Illumination, which made “Minions,” “Despicable Me,” and the “Secret Life of Pets,” has reportedly been talking to Nintendo about this for over a year. Honestly, there’s a good reason for that long amount of talks. There’s no way we can forget the original Mario Movie, and other attempts to bring Nintendo’s characters to different screens haven’t been super successful.

Anyway, since they’re closing talks, there’s no official information yet. Nintendo and Illumination have declined to comment, so we’ll have to wait and see what’s going to happen.

I’d be pretty thrilled for a movie like this, considering the love I have for Nintendo’s characters. What do you think? Let us know in the comments!

I'm the head honcho here. I love Nintendo, and I love writing about it all. Ask me sometime about why I believe Waluigi is a ghost.
