Now, we all know it’s been 7 years since we’ve seen Classic Mega Man in action. Since then, everyone’s been clamoring for a new Mega Man game. There were attempts to make new games in the series, in particular, Maverick Hunter, Rockman Online, Mega Man Universe, and of course Mega Man Legends 3.

All were canceled, and Keiji Inafune ended up leaving Capcom. After that, there was sort of a new game in Mighty Number 9, but that game was rifled with issues of its own.

There were some glimmers of hope. Mega Man was included in Smash Bros 4, and there were the two Legacy Collections. But something was noticed in the bonus features for Legacy 2. A piece of art that looked to be brand new. Protodude was the first to point it out.

But, this year is the 30th Anniversary of Mega Man. Well, it came out in December so I think they’re considering 2018 the 30th anniversary.

During the 30th Anniversary live stream earlier today, we got glorious news. A Mega Man 11 is coming. Along with a trailer.

I’ll be frank, I went a bit nuts.

We got a few snippets of gameplay showing the game’s 2.5D aesthetic. I like the NES aesthetics of 9 & 10, but this just looks so good!

The trailer showed off a few stages and the game’s beautiful soundtrack. We got the weapon in the concept art which is essentially a better version of the Super Arm (Guts Man’s Weapon), along with a brief glimpse of a sort of burst weapon.

They said it was coming out Late 2018.

It’s still early days, so we don’t have much. We know Roll’s returning and a few new weapons, but that’s about it.

One thing I noticed, there were no robot masters revealed. So maybe they’re not using the traditional stage-to-stage formula?

It’s also to be featured in Game Informer next month, so be excited. I think this might be the only time I willingly read that magazine.

We’ll make sure to keep you all updated on information when it comes out, so stay tuned.
