Splatoon 2 Single-Player

Splatoon 2 Single-Player Trailer Teases What’s To Come, Plus Screenshots

The story behind Splatoon 2 looks better than the first game.

Part of the Nintendo Direct this afternoon was a trailer for the single-player mode of Splatoon 2. The Splatoon 2 single-player mode includes some looks at the story, character interactions, and stages. This game just looks more fantastic the more I watch.

Here’s the trailer in its entirety, if you haven’t yet seen it.

It looks like the campaign starts with Callie of the Squid Sisters. We don’t know exactly what’s going on, but it gives us a taste the Octarians are up to no good again. The player apparently is reluctant to join the efforts against the threat but goes along with it anyway.

Some key points to take out of this is that there are new movement mechanics in this mode, as well as the introduction of multiple weapons. It appears that each of the stages will require a different set of weapons. This is different from the first game because the first game only allowed one weapon-type the entire game (with the exception of the amiibo challenges).

I think this is a great step for the game because a lot of kids will probably only be able to play the single-player campaign. It also looks like we’ll be seeing more of the world that the series resides in. I’m super excited.

On top of that, Nintendo released a gazillion screenshots and images for Splatoon 2, so here they are.

I’m super excited for Splatoon 2. How about you? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

I'm the head honcho here. I love Nintendo, and I love writing about it all. Ask me sometime about why I believe Waluigi is a ghost.
