INVERSUS Deluxe is one of those fun competitive and cooperative arcade shooter games. This one offers a twist though – your player movement is constrained to opposite colors on a black and white grid. Let’s see what I think about this game.

Gameplay

Inversus Deluxe takes a unique twist on the Arcade Shooter genre that you really can’t find on the eShop. You take control of a square that is restricted to movement only in its own color of tile on the board. What is your objective? Shoot the opponent with a laser-like attack while flipping their own color tile. This unique twist on the gameplay offered more variety in the title and definitely sets itself apart from other titles in the Switch eShop.

The game has multiple different options for play, my favorite being the arcade mode (competing against CPUs to earn a high score), whether it be playing against CPUs or against a random online player. The online worked flawlessly in this title, and I did not have any issue connecting to another player. With full online leaderboard support, you will always be back to fight it out with fellow players and beat your highest score.

The game features a wide range of cosmetic options for your cube. Some let you change the background color of the map you’re playing on, while others will let you customize the custom emotion you can have your cube send at the conclusion of a match. In a title like this, these custom cosmetics are a nice addition. They definitely added more to this title and gave you more things to work towards for unlocks.

Visuals

The visuals are a key fit for this game and its gameplay. With you being restricted to movement only in your color of title, you will need to think about how & where you move to shoot at your enemy.

The colors and visuals can also be customized to your liking with the in-game cosmetic unlockables. These unlockables allow you to change the background color, for example.

Sound

The sound effects in this title definitely get immerse you in the gameplay of Inversus Deluxe. The game plays sounds when you are killing, dying, and firing your laser.

Difficulty

With this game not being too easy or too hard, it’s perfect for this style of arcade gameplay. The only difficulty comes from how you approach your competitor and their level of skill in the game.

Conclusion

I had a ton of fun with this title and still come back to it when I’m looking for something to do. It has a perfect difficulty with it not being too easy or too hard, and it’s easy for everyone to pick up and play. If you’re looking for an addictive arcade shooter, look no further than Inversus Deluxe as it’s a great title to pick up and play whenever!
